Blue for Facebook, sure looks like the following color tint.

Sometimes you need to test outweigh in total secrecy. I will take color Director Bill Nguyen shares this belief. Over the past two days, his Facebook stream was filled with some seemingly bland picture. But they're not soft-they are all pictures of the tests. And they all sent a new application called "Blue".

I don't know much about the app, but I was able to dig up a little bit of information — including the logo above. Basis of name alone, I think it would be pretty safe to assume that this is at least one of the new projects, color Labs team is working on after the color itself have fizzled out.

And there's a bit more hinting at this time of the next draft colors — namely, many developers listed on blue Facebook application page on color (and number work for Apple, and where Nguyen worked until color Labs). Currently, the application has 29 monthly active users in the list.

A bit more: it seems that they settled on the name "blue" recently after using code-named "TestJckJck" (seriously) for several weeks. You can find this Facebook application here, again with several color/Apple as developers.

Nguyen TestJckJck testing on your profile for awhile now. Blue certainly has a better ring to it.

Right now my guess is that Blue is the new mobile applications with deep links in Facebook photos. It's interesting because Facebook can work on their own standalone app in this regard. Nick Bilton reported earlier today that Facebook is preparing a number of photo filters for use in mobile applications. This can all be linked in any way.

Another thing: the URL for the blue "contains bluecolor for Facebook".

Update: we confirmed with several sources that blue really will be the next app colors.

Color is a social application for photos. You take photos and then the photos appear on the fly with other photos in your proximity. You can see ...

Facebook music yet? No problem! Meet the wonderful + music Chrome extension

plusmusic

Facebook is working with a wide range of partners to prepare to launch music service – perhaps called "Vibes" – inside the surprisingly popular social networking site. In standby mode, I advise you to visit the amazing + music extension for Google chrome (here is the direct link to extension).

This is pretty cool. After installation, you'll find a new icon in the toolbar Chrome allows you to quickly find the artist, stream music and discover links to artist profiles on Facebook, radio, Wikipedia, last.FM and whatnot. Music gets fetched from blog MP3s or radio (subscription required) and you can click on the icon to play and pause music mixes, move to the next track or part of the song.

On any Web page you visit, you can now select the name of the artist, click the right mouse button, and instantly play or turn a mixture of songs from the artist said. The following video shows you how it works.

Now this is all very well, but that's where it gets interesting. + Music deeply integrates with Facebook and allows you to share full songs with friends, even if they do not have the extension installed.

It also adds a layer of utility over Facebook, so when you visit a social network, you will see a number of enhancements that will allow you to enjoy the music with just a click of the mouse.

For example, on top of Facebook, you will see the player, which allows you to play, pause and skip tracks, so you need to open more than + music dialog box by clicking on the icon in the toolbar.

In the section "Share" you will also see "music" option, which allows you to search for artist, album or track where you usually post a status update. You can use it to share a YouTube video or the song itself instantly or even full album (MP3s by blogging Web-wide, or radio).

In the screenshot below gives you an idea of how it looks.

To achieve the above, the add-in uses a protocol open graph Facebook for embedding video object music, when you share the track – no authentication required – while website swarm. fm operates as a home for any content shared through + music (with more in the future, tells me, the developer, Peter Watts).

It doesn't stop there. + Music extension also barely artist or group of pages, add a button for Instant Music streaming or queue next to their name. In addition the expansion shows you similar artists or bands in the left column of their Facebook page. Again, see. the screenshot below.

Most of the technology behind + music extension is powered by the echo nest.

If you are interested in other applications other than music, don't forget to give ex. fm and Shuffler. fm trauma.

Yelp provides a compelling platform for small businesses to connect with consumers through transactions, reviews, reservations, information and much more.

But independent workers as stilizatory hair, bartenders and DJs have a problem: if they move from one institution to another (which is quite common), they have a difficult time taking their clients with them. Enter Y Combinator backed Opez, platform, which aims to help professionals maintain contact with their customers on a long-term basis, making it easy to keep them abreast of any changes in the job or hot deals they offer.

Of course, Facebook is already offering Facebook page that can be used for similar a similar purpose. But there's co-founder Chris said workers wanted to be able to attract clients, but also to keep at a distance, which is the problem with using Facebook page as their central business page. It adds that this product is built specifically for professionals in certain industries, such as DJs, bartenders, models, hairdressers, personal trainers, chefs and waiters.

Employees can create a profile, upload photos galleries and videos, showcasing work, create vanity domain for your profile and much more. Then they can encourage their clients to go to their profile Opez and follow them. Professionals can also send status updates and email their followers, but without any of the parties seeing with another e-mail address.

So if a professional switches work, he can send his follower list and keep people updated on where he works on. He also can publish updates to Twitter and Facebook directly from Opez.

On the client side, who sees the professional profile Opez, but to follow someone, you need to create a profile for yourself. Then you can post feedback on the page professional.

The idea of Opez can be powerful because it gives employees a platform that combines part of Twitter, Facebook and Yelp — and this is clearly necessary. At this point the question is whether this is sufficiently different from Facebook pages that industry professionals will be willing to create a profile on another new network.

Initial results are encouraging: there said that the site is already seeing traction among bartenders, models, hair stilizatory and others. And he adds that the mobile application is under development.

Facebook wins "Worst API Developer review

Facebookp

Review of more than 100 developers previously posted here on hacker news, in order to determine what external APIs have been the most difficult to integrate into the project developers. Winner ... or rather loser? Facebook. Refer to the Facebook API developers in the expression after errors, poor documentation, endless API changes, slow response times and other headaches.

Google APIs were in second place, and APIs of Twitter came in third.

Of course these three services are the most popular among today's developers, so it's not surprising to hear that they are at the top of the list for the problem. Of course Facebook, Google and Twitter will come in higher than, say, Digg API, which is hardly ever seen in the wild these days.

However, Facebook, which received the most complaints from developers, calling it "broken", bugs and poor offering documentation. Twitter received complaints too, but it is also the most positive comments over any other service. Meanwhile, complaints about Google has APIs that have been closed or are missing.

According to photo aggregation service treasure, which was held in the survey, there were a large number of complaints about the current vendor API. And treasure thinks that developers deserve better:

They no longer serve their developers as well. No bad documentation. There are problems with services like OAuth. APIs arbitrarily changed without warning. And there's nothing even resembling industry standards, just best practices that one finds a way to get around. As developers, we build our livelihood on these APIs, and we deserve better.

Additional data

Other interesting survey results had to do with associations, overhead and detailed information about specific headaches.

For example, almost two thirds of the developers claimed they had 3 or more integration services, and a third said they used between 4 and 6. 9 developers reported that they used 11 or more services.

Surprisingly the developers did not consider that the integration services received year after year, worse that treasure believed would be the case. This may be related to the improvement over time as standardized and commiditized libraries, or perhaps the reviewer admitted bad language in their survey question.

With regard to the headaches? There were quite a few listed, including:

Poor documentationOAuthPoor error handlingLack example codeLack environmentsLack test standard libraries throughout the languagesAPIs that changes/break often (mainly Facebook) normalize data for mapping of internal data structuresLine between using and abuseArbitrary, Regulation (differences between services) Differing standards (rest v v SOAP XML-RPC, XML v JSON (v) post, versioning, v, etc.)For services to talk to the dev machine for firewallTrove said that he will post a new survey in the near future, to ask some of the issues that developers told them that they would like to see next time.

Groupchat. tv brings Google hangouts like the experience on Facebook

GroupChat-logo

Groupchat. TV is a new Facebook application that brings Google hangouts such group video chat experience for Facebook. The application was created over the weekend, the HAPI hackathon in San Francisco, the same people who run ecommerce site TinyPay. me.

And here's the crazy part Groupchat. tv supports up to 50 video streams at the same time!

The App creators do not recommend that you click Groupchat. tv, quite that far, though. It should be noted, however, that there is such a tough limit 10 people on chat is over at Google, where "Hangouts" are one of the key selling points of the site.

For a video chat on Google + you run Crowd (session video chat) by clicking and then share it with a circle or circles, personal friends or among the general public, as you choose.

To use a Groupchat. tv, you must first authorize the use of Facebook, and then share with your friends a special link that it generates. The link can be found by using instant messaging, such as Facebook in their own chat in e-mail, for example, wall post, or however you choose. Groupchat .TV in the main interface provides you with Facebook status updates window, however, that makes the process relatively easy.

Your friend will also authorize Facebook application before being able to communicate with you. In the test group this morning, we ran into common problems Mac/Flash (it's not "just work", you must configure settings for Flash here) However, the application provides at least with a simple "how" a pop-up window that explains how to make the necessary changes.

Groupchat. TV that uses Tokbox in the opentok API has not been as smooth as Google hangouts or Facebook in Skype integration, of course. You can hear your voice echoing your friends PC speakers, for example. But if you die in a group chat with friends on Facebook, it's definitely worth a look.

According to the app developer, Melvin Tercan (also Tinypay .me founder and CEO), the verb is already tossing around ideas for new features, such as a public list of group chat, that anyone can join. But now, they just hope the app takes off and goes viral.

I think that can happen now?

Update: I said that this application sends a message to your Facebook wall when you start the chat session. Automatic wall posts it seems par for the course on Facebook, so I wasn't surprised or unpleasantly so. However, you can in various ways. Be warned!

Correction: this article originally gave credit Richard Straver, because Melvin Tercan sent to us using the e-mail address of Richard. Oops!

Tinypay .me is essentially the e-commerce platform that allows people to sell physical and digital products in the simplest way possible. The best example is that you can ...

"We are not trying to redefine the tutorial, CEO of Kno Osman Rashid tells me," we are trying to redefine how you learn. " Today Kno has made great steps to more social digital textbooks through the provision of 100 000 books College at its Web site and on Facebook. Textbooks for the Facebook application and site will be presented to the reader through the HTML5 book. So that the students who buy the book through Kno in the iPad app can now read them via the Internet or on Facebook. They can ask questions and comments to their news feeds, with an eye towards the establishment of full circles down the line.

KNO also adds new possibilities of research in its iPad application. In the video above, Vice President of marketing for Osama Haffara QuizMe demos and magazine. QuizMe is a test of any tagged digital chart tutorial. He blacks out tags and allows you to test multiple choice answers, which works well with biology or Anatomy Diagrams. The journal is a digital notebook as a stream.

IPad App lets you already KNO students take notes or highlight passages. He now collects all these notes in the magazine, which organizes all the notes for each tutorial in Evernote as a stream of music. Notes may include highlights, text notes, tutorials, images, audio notes, and even photos taken with the iPad. "To prepare for the exam, not a book, will use the magazine predicts Rashid. Although the history is a collection of private music at launch, Rashid suggests that, in the end, students will have the opportunity to share them with friends.

It's not too difficult to imagine how the flow of notes in the journal can be the basis for the study of flow in the Facebook application at some point down the line. The difficult part will be moving all that can be freely shared with a variety of DRM from all the various textbooks by publishers, but Rashid said that the industry will come to a consensus around how much of the tutorial. (In the end, it's free marketing.)

It was only in April when Kno finally gave up on their own tablet and supported iPad instead. The App was well received, with an average of four stars in iTunes via 205 ratings and only 3% of digital textbooks were Kno returned (service honors 15-day return policy for purchased books). Speaking with Rashid, he seems almost liberated. A focus on software only certainly appears to accelerate the pace of new introductions.

KNO developed a digital learning environment for students to read books, take notes and share content with friends and teachers. Students can access across multiple platforms and specially ...
